When Pedro was a child, he rode horses on his grandparents’ farm. As a teenager, he asked his father for a show horse, but his father’s dreams was for him to be a soccer player. Pedro played for a while in the professional base category of a team in Brazil. In the meantime he rode in a reining clinic with Franco Bertolani.
It was then he found out that he wanted to do reining. Pedro broke his ankle playing soccer at the age of 15 and needed to be away from the fields to recover. It was then that he made the decision to do an internship with Franco and spent a year with him. At the age of 16, he came to the United States to do an internship for a year with the trainer Doug Milholand. He remembers working a lot and being in search of more knowledge. He says, “It’s not easy, but it’s worth it when you have a dream or goal.”
Now, Pedro lives in Scottsdale, AZ with his wife, Ana, and son, Benjamin, and daughter, Mya.
Pedro believes that horses are important and that those where we don’t get the desired performance teach us how to improve. On the other hand, the ones that we get better results reinforce that we are on the right path!
Some of Pedro’s top achievements are the 2018 NRBC, where he tied the L4 Reserve Champion with Andrea Fappani and Epic Titan and won the L3. It was quite an experience, he finds hard to describe. In 2020, he finished ninth in the NRHA ranking!
In 2012, Pedro won the NRHA Futurity L1 and L2 Champion. And L2 Champion in 2016, the biggest reining competition in the world!
“I don’t know if I would be able to do something else in life if I don’t ride and show horses! My plan is to always be in search of knowledge!”
