Renegade Riders Saddle Club: Fostering Equestrian Excellence and Community Spirit
Share
Introduction
Founded in September 2015, the Renegade Riders Saddle Club emerged from a desire to rejuvenate horse-related activities in our community. Our success over the past six years stems from providing a much-needed service that resonates with local residents. We offer a range of equestrian activities designed to enrich the lives of our members and foster a love for horseback riding.
The Value of Equestrian Activities
Building Confidence and Leadership
Equestrian activities are not just enjoyable but also educational. They provide valuable opportunities for riders to develop confidence, leadership skills, and goal-setting abilities. These experiences teach perseverance and the rewards of hard work, practical skills that benefit individuals throughout their lives.
Varied Opportunities for Growth
At Renegade Riders, we support these personal developments by hosting diverse shows, workshops, and volunteer opportunities. These events allow members to showcase their skills and continue growing in their equestrian journey.
Honoring Shannon: A Legacy of Passion and Generosity
Remembering a Unique Spirit
Four years ago, we lost our beloved secretary, Shannon, in a tragic accident while riding her cherished horse, Prince. Shannon was a vibrant individual known for her eclectic interests and zest for life. She embraced every experience with enthusiasm, from concerts to outdoor activities. Her love for her horse, named after the Minnesota musician Prince, was a testament to her unique personality.
Shannon’s legacy continues through the scholarship fund established in her memory. Despite not having children of her own, Shannon’s decision to lease Prince to a young rider demonstrated her commitment to sharing her passion with others. This young rider has since competed at the Minnesota 4H State Horse Show twice, a testament to Shannon’s impact.
Continuing Her Legacy
Shannon’s foresight included bequeathing Prince to the owner of her boarding facility, ensuring his continued care and affection. To honor her memory, we launched a scholarship fund to support members attending the WSCA Champ Show or the Minnesota 4H Horse Show. In 2019, this fund helped cover costs for six local 4H youth at the MN State 4H Horse Show and two youth at the WSCA Champ Show.
Our 4th Annual Race (postponed in 2020 due to COVID) marks another milestone in celebrating Shannon’s drive for success and community spirit.
