Share
Pedro Baiao's journey into the world of reining horses began on his grandparents' farm, where he first discovered his passion for riding. By the age of 15, Pedro was already focused on reining, and he took a significant step forward by interning with Franco Bertolani. At just 16, Pedro furthered his expertise with a year-long internship under the guidance of trainer Doug Milholand in the United States.
Pedro's Philosophy: Horses Come First
Pedro Baiao's core belief is that horses always come first. He views every performance, whether successful or not, as an opportunity to learn and grow. "Performances where we don't achieve our desired results teach us how to improve," Pedro explains. Conversely, successful performances validate that his training approach is on the right track.

In addition to managing his own training program, he oversees the breeding and training operations at Gordon Quarter Horses, owned by Marc and Kathy Gordon. Pedro's family—his wife Ana, son Benjamin, and daughter Mya—provides steadfast support as he continues to compete and train.
The Art of the Reining Stop
Pedro’s favorite maneuver is the dramatic stop into the slide, a signature move in reining. "I enjoy the stop into the slide as a reiner! It is the most dramatic move that impresses the audience and it sometimes has to be done 3-4 times in a competition," Pedro says. He relishes the challenge of perfecting this move and adding his personal touch to each performance.
